A Personal Stylist Look At Colour In Store This Season

As a lead up to Spring 2011 many shops are keen to show us personal stylists what is coming in store.

I have worked as a personal stylist for over 10 years and this is the first season I have seen in a long time where there is a big focus on bright colours.

Country Road is showcasing orange, green and white with a strong emphasis on navy. Horizontal stripes are featured along with their renowned neutral tones but the store is definitely making a bright statement.

Veronika Maine have subtly incorporated colours into their pieces. Key colours include mustard, turquoise and navy all the way to brighter reds, orange, lime green and vibrant purple.

Cue has taken a side step just a little outside their regular blacks, greys and fresh whites to capture a portion of the colour trends this summer. They have cleverly incorporated some deeper more sophisticated colour into their range with navy, orange, mustard and green being the key statements.

Carla Zampatti is taking full advantage of this seasons trend with her strong use of bright orange, Cobolt blue, stark whites and of course navy – this seasons new black!

Sportsgirl has gone to town with bright colours and it will be difficult to get anything there unless you are very young with bright colouring, although accessories will work well.

Zara’s collection is vast and there are plenty of bright colours to choose from. However with the array of stock frequently arriving, you can still find plenty of elegant neutrals to tone things down a little.

Ted Baker’s colour selection for their collection is bold and striking! Playing with bright oranges and greens and with careful selection, you can team with deeper colours to create a fantastic look.

The majority of Alannah Hill’s range is still her trademark with deep rich colour. However she has cleverly incorporated some pop colours in candy stripes, smaller pieces, trimming and the accessories are bold and bright to make a statement– it’s always worth a visit!

For some soft neutral tones try Forever New. You will float through the season with soft peach, lime green, cream pastel blues and pinks. The collection is soft, pretty and feminine and a nice break from the hard to wear brights!
