I’m sure you all heard (read from my numerous ecstatic tweets and facebook posts) that I had the opportunity to speak to my style icon and Hollywood A-Lister, Ms Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP). She is here to attend Oaks Day and promote her new film, “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” a film which showcases a woman juggling a family, a career and life’s obstacles – something many of us can relate to including a host of my clients.
Held at the prominent River Room at Crown Casino, the room was decorated with gorgeous flowers and prettied up SATC style with pink candles, cupcakes, fine china cups, saucers and all things lovely! Dressed in Alannah Hill I took a front row centre seat poised and ready to introduce myself to SJP.

And may I say… what a down-to-earth, humble and gracious person SJP is! Question time arrived and I shot my hand up to land the first question. I introduced myself and mentioned that I had four children and four step children, SJP laughed in almost disbelief and replied with, “And you’re here? What are you doing here?!”

I explained to her that I could relate to her film as I too was juggling an extensive family, business of my own and held a hectic schedule. I also asked her what her thoughts were on Australian fashion and if she knew any labels. SJP explained that 10 years ago she helped launch Sass and Bide when she met designers Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton and wore some of the outfits on episodes of Sex And The City. She also mentioned that she liked Collette Dinnigan.
The film prompted many questions from media about how she relates to the film and very honestly, SJP said she did relate as a mother with three children, including two-year-old twins but acknowledges that she is lucky and can afford to hire help. She definitely admires women who can “do it all” and loves that the film will connect with so many people.
When asked about her favourite movie, SJP explains that other than loving a storyline it’s the experiences on offer that make her work so great. Places she visits, people she works with and sights and smells.
Dressed in a magnificent yellow dress (still hunting down the designer for you all), her hair was long and wavy, very simple jewellery, nude heels and sporting a tiny waist – she must have incredible genes or a great PT!
She told us that after this she will be taking the rest of the year off to spend time with her family, walk her kids to school and the playground. It’s always great to meet your celebrity idol and they’re everything you expect them to be and sometimes more. SJP was very attentive, was friendly and said hello to every person who spoke to her, so generous and sweet and there was no sign of any Hollywood diva behaviour.

SJP looks amazing for her age (no surgery/botox evident) and although she has a stylist by her side she is someone to look up to as while we can all fall out of style with our family and work duties, it’s nice to remember that making that effort to look good will have us feeling great and make every day a little bit easier – I promise you. This is what I do; teaching men and women how to use style in their daily life and there have been some life-changing results. See my testimonials page for details.
So my next dream venture? To shop with the wonderful SJP, I would love to introduce her to the Australian fashion market!
