It seems that all the major marquees have a “pre” launch prior to the Spring Racing Carnival which officially begins this Saturday on Derby Day. I was booked up consulting today but sent along a senior stylist to get you the scoop on the Myer Marquee launch and some designer style advice.

Firstly, Melbourne spoiled us with divine weather, which saw some delightful colours come out to play amongst guests today. The gorgeous Fifi Box from Fox FM and Channel 7’s Sunrise along with Jeff Banks, MYER menswear designer, hosted the event.

This year the prize pool for Melbourne Fashions on the Field has reached $400,000 with a convertible Lexus and $5,000 Myer voucher as a top prize. I really must remember to enter one year and not book myself out so I do encourage both ladies and men to enter because the prizes are just phenomenal and it’s a great excuse to present your signature style.

This year is the first year where there will be an “Elegance” award for ladies. Hosted by Longines, a $4000 watch is up for grabs for ladies that exude elegance, femininity and showcase their classic style.
Renowned designer Arthur Galan and milliner Lisa Tan offered some style tips to guests.

“I see an explosion of colour and bright tones,” explains Arthur. “But I think you will also see some fresh colours like ivory and pale tones. Men will wear these bright colours through their shirts and ties.”

Lisa Tan said our favourite word, “Comfort. Make sure your hats fit well so you’re not adjusting it all day or need to remove it – very faux pas. Milliners are excited as we see the “death of the fascinator” which doesn’t mean huge hats but having some simple additions like the veiling being the statement embellishment. There is also the return of the proper hat with a brim and for a tip for next year, the Boater Hat returns.”

We then had Myer Racing Ambassadors, the handsome Kris Smith, new gorgeous mum Rebecca Judd and Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassadors Jess Sinclair and Chantelle Delaney. Also showcasing their amazing dress style were national finalists who are competing in Melbourne for the top fashion prize. I’ve attached some pictures of the parade for you all.

Get involved ladies and gents, below is a link on how to enter. Wishing you a fabulous Spring Carnival week! mailto:http://www.melbournecup.com/fashion-style/myer-fashions-on-the-field/womens-racewear/
